Hello, I’m Kevlyn Kadamala.

I am a postdoctoral researcher at University College Dublin and a researcher at QUAIL. My current research focuses on developing practical quantum computing solutions for optimisation and machine learning problems.

I completed my PhD at the University of Galway, where I explored how prior data and pre-trained weights can improve the performance and efficiency of reinforcement learning-based algorithms for HVAC control; accounting for variations in building characteristics such as location, size, structure, materials, and weather conditions through methods like fine-tuning, padding, and representation learning.

I have keen interests in reinforcement learning, and evolutionary computation. But I have also worked in other domains of AI like – machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and optimisation.

Apart from work, I like playing football, running (any sort of physical activity, really), reading, and discovering new music. Since 2006 I’ve spent most of my time worrying about Arsenal.
